Suquamish, WA (September 2012) Tim Ryan Construction, Inc. (TRC) is pleased to announce the completion of the Suquamish Museum project. The new museum provides an 11,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that is triple the size of the previous museum with space for exhibits, 50-seat performance and class room, museum store, exhibit preparation, archive storage & work areas, landscaping with native plants and story circle with cedar log seats that will be used for educational programs.
Construction of a LEED Silver Green project, as well as providing a facility that will preserve artifacts has its challenges. “From start to finish, the TRC team was up for the new challenge building a museum. On top of the systems complexity, they effortlessly dealt with critical LEED, ASHRAE, indoor air quality and exhibit criteria. TRC educated their subs to understand how this building is as much about preserving artifacts as it is people comfort. Everyone enjoyed learning something new which made it a pleasure to work with the whole team”, stated David Grein, Project Manager for Suquamish Tribe.
As a culturally significant project for the Suquamish Tribe, it was critical to meet the needs of the client! “The project management team and workers were a joy for me to work with as the eventual tenant of the building. Everyone was so willing to listen and learn about the special needs of museum construction. Above and beyond, I especially appreciate all the big and little things TRC folks did for us, from moving extra difficult artifacts from the old museum to the new museum to responding immediately every time I needed something extra. We miss having them around as a part of our crew”,stated the museum’s director, Janet Smoak.
“Tim Ryan Construction delivered a great building for the Suquamish Tribe. We appreciate TRC’s patience and attention to detail that our new Museum design required. As with past TRC/Suquamish Tribe partnerships, the Museum project was once again on time and on budget. We thank TRC, a great local firm, for their professional approach to this building, which fulfills a longtime vision for the Suquamish people”, stated Leonard Forsman, Tribal Chairman.
