DEM has reached an agreement to lease commercial office space from Tim Ryan Properties, LP of Poulsbo in a newly constructed building at 6th and Pacific, adjacent to the Norm Dicks Government Center. With quick access to Seattle via ferry, DEM's new headquarters provides a relatively low-cost, high quality-of-life location in the heart of Bremerton’s revitalized downtown business district within an easy commute from the Seattle technology community. "We are very pleased to conclude our lease agreement with Tim Ryan, and look forward to establishing Bremerton and Kitsap County as a leader in clean technology development", said Peter Crabtree, Vice President and Treasurer at DEM. Distributed Energy Management is an information services and electricity monitoring company that facilitates autonomous, active demand response by allowing utilities to access “virtual power generation” in order to reduce or eliminate reliance on peak power generation facilities. DEM also provides electricity end users with device level electricity consumption monitoring to help them improve energy efficiency and control without negatively impacting users’ lifestyles or businesses. DEM was founded by in February of this year by Jason Crabtree, Jimmy Jia, and Peter Crabtree. Jason and Peter Crabtree are longtime residents of Kitsap County. Jason Crabtree is an honor graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he was the Brigade Commander and First Captain of the Corps of Cadets and selected as a Rhodes Scholar. Peter Crabtree is a successful entrepreneur and has been the recipient of the McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship as well as the NFIB/VISA Entrepreneurial Scholarship. Jimmy Jia holds a BS and MS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds multiple patents for past work as an Associate Engineer at Panasonic and was the eastern New England Territory Manager for Olympus’ microscopy division. Shortly after its founding, Brian Galvin joined DEM as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Acting CEO, Mr. Galvin has had a long and distinguished career in technology management, most recently as CTO of the Enterprise Division of Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN). Mr. Galvin was also CTO of Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, Inc. (an Alcatel-Lucent company; NYSE: ALU), where he formulated a growth strategy which nearly doubled the company's sales in three years in a mature market. He also served as a Vice President of Enterprise Architecture Services at Science Applications International, Inc. (SAIC), and was Chief Engineer of a nuclear-powered warship in the US Navy. A graduate of Harvard University and the Naval Postgraduate School (MS, Physics), Mr. Galvin brings unusual breadth and depth in both technology and technical management to the team at DEM. He is also a natural innovator, with six US patents in his name and nearly two dozen more pending. He was a Distinguished Member of the Alcatel-Lucent Technical Academy and is a registered United States Patent Agent.
